Virginia Motorsports Park is saddened to announce more schedule changes due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. As we move closer to the month of May and the non-essential business open date was extended to May 8th, this has forced our hand to cancel more events. The following events in the table below will join the growing list of cancelled events due to COVID-19.
Date | Event |
May 1 | O’Reilly Auto Parts Street Wars + Most Wanted |
May 2 | Restoration Reunion |
May 2 | Rugged Maniac – Obstacle Course 5K |
May 3 | VP Fuels ET Bracket Series – Race 5 |
May 9-10 | Mid-Atlantic Motocross Association (MX Park) |
The PDRA Mid-Atlantic Showdown, presented by: Modern Racing has postponed until further notice. The second event on the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) national schedule was originally scheduled for May 7-9 at Virginia Motorsports Park. As of now, we do not have a postponed date to announce but we are working with other event promoters and companies to make the best of the situation we have all been dealt. The Xtreme Dragbike Association (XDA)’s MTC Engineering Summer Nationals will now stand as the hopeful return date for motorsports on May 15-17 followed by season opening Ladies Night event on Friday, May 22nd and the Bert Jackson Memorial Weekend Extravaganza, presented by: Brown’s Racing on May 23rd. Virginia Motorsports Park officials continue to work hard to create modifications of the original schedule as things are ever-changing regarding COVID-19 and the return of motorsports and the way things will be forced to open.
Currently, we are still unable to perform private testing. We are continuing talks with county and state officials regarding the importance of programs like this to our facility and to our racers. Virginia Motorsports Park hopes to have positive news regarding this aspect of the sport in the coming weeks.
We understand how uncertain these times are and the health of our racers and fans are of the highest importance for both Virginia Motorsports Park and all of its individual event promoters. We ask that you stay home as often as possible, wash your hands and sanitize as often as possible along with staying within the government’s guidelines. The restrictions are extremely difficult on all small businesses regarding the COVID-19 shutdowns and we hope that a number of these begin to lift very soon. We miss you all and we miss our sport – the most extreme motorsport on the planet. Continue to stay safe, keep your health and cleanliness at a top standard so that the cases can start to roll the right way and the opening of states can happen quicker than ever. We all need it.
Keep the faith, stay strong and just know one thing – we will race in 2020. No questions.
Sincerely,
Tyler Crossnoe
