Virginia Motorsports Park Announces 2021 Season Schedule

Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) is proud to announce the release of the 2021 competition schedule at the North Dinwiddie, Virginia based, 500-acre facility. Coming off of a shortened 2020 season, the schedule is jam-packed from top to bottom with everything from nitro burning Top Fuels and Funny Cars to daily driver programs. Our 2021 season outlook has nearly 150 event days across three of our four racing facilities without private testing!

Special events always are the headlining act of any motorsports venue and in 2021 – Virginia Motorsports Park has one star-studded line-up for race fans to enjoy from mild to wild! The Virginia NHRA Nationals (June 4-6) and Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings (March 26-27) leads the way with the two largest spectator events of the year. Frostbite Car/Truck/Bike Show, Outlaw Street Car Reunion VIII, Modern Street HEMI Shootout, three XDA events, two PDRA events, Night of Fire + PDRA ProStars, the East Coast Chevy Show, six big money bracket races with the Triple Threat Bracket Series and the Old Dominion Duels, Summer Diesel Showdown, Shakedown Nationals, NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, and the debut of Street Car Takeover. The Dirtplex will house Monster Truck Throwdown, two mud bogs, two Rugged Maniac 5K obstacle course events, two Mid-Atlantic Motocross Association events on the motocross track and more to come!

Frostbite Car/Truck/Bike Show, presented by: StuntLikeMe Productions kicks off our season on Saturday, January 23. This will be a great time to come out to the Park, show off your ride and enjoy seeing everyone since the winter break began. From classics to moderns, this car show will have it all – parked on the dragstrip – making it one of the most unique shows of the season!



The national television spotlight hits Virginia Motorsports Park early in the 2021 season with the first stop of the season for Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings on March 26-27. The stars and cars from the hit television series finally make their debut at the largest drag racing facility in the state of Virginia. A new event to Virginia Motorsports Park is next up with the Outlaw Street Car Reunion VIII coming to the schedule on April 22-24. This event spent five years in Memphis, TN and two seasons in Bowling Green, KY before taking a year off and making the big move to Virginia for the 2021 season. Radial vs. The World, Pro 275, X275, Ultra Street and more headline the extremely popular primarily small tire drag racing event. Sportsman racing will also be held at this event, classes and more detailed information to be announced soon.

Payso Productions, Brown’s Racing and JB will click the scoreboards to the off position for four events on the 2021 calendar – starting on May 1 with the inaugural Payso Productions May Madness. Brown’s Racing will take over on Memorial Day (Bert Jackson Memorial GrudgeFest) and Labor Day (Battle in the DMV, Round 2) Saturdays while JB will close out the season on Halloween Saturday with four of the best no time races in the area!



If you are more of a two-wheel fan, the Xtreme Dragbike Association (XDA) will now have three stops on their 2021 championship tour here in Virginia in May, August and September. XDA features quarter-mile, six-second, 230mph Pro Street bikes along with Pro Xtreme, 4.60 Index and plenty of sportsman racing where bike counts have been seen of over 600 entries in one weekend! The Virginia NHRA Nationals leads the charge into the summer months with the quickest and fastest show of the year on June 4-6, 2021. Nitro-burning, 320mph Top Fuels and Funny Cars lead the charge with the Camping World Drag Racing Series with Saturday qualifying and Sunday eliminations along with Pro Stock Motorcycles, 5-second quarter-mile E3 Spark Plugs Pro Modified series and the exhibition category of the Mountain Motor Pro Stocks! NHRA Lucas Oil sportsman categories will lead off the week on Friday along with special attractions, to be announced soon! The East Coast Chevy Show has long been a popular attraction at the Virginia Motorsports Park, known for excellent sportsman drag racing, swap meet, car show, car corral, vendor midway and so much more. After a few seasons in the late fall calendar slot, fighting weather and other hang-ups, Virginia Motorsports Park officials have decided to move this show into the middle of the year with more consistent weather and longer event days to award more track time to our racers! We look forward for another chapter in the East Coast Chevy Show book to be written on June 18-20.



The Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) rolls into the Virginia Motorsports Park facility for two annual stops, one in July and the World Finals in October. The series features Pro Nitrous, Pro Boost, Extreme Pro Stock, Pro Outlaw 632, Pro Nitrous Motorcycle, Pro Street, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Pro Jr. Dragster, Top Jr. Dragster and Bracket Bash categories. New for 2021 is the debut of the Triple Threat Bracket Series – three big money events, including the Mega Bucks event in July. Nearly $500,000 is guaranteed to be paid out within three weekends of bracket racing here at Virginia Motorsports Park. June 10-13, July 21-25 and October 7-10 will be three weekends that you do not want to miss as a sportsman racer.

The fan-favorite Night of Fire returns in 2021 with the added entertainment of PDRA ProStars! From jet dragsters to Pro Mods, this will be one night of racing that you do not want to miss. Details are still coming together with this one-of-a-kind event but you definitely want to mark your calendars for Saturday, July 31 as the Night of Fire will blow your mind and rattle your senses!



Earmarked as one of Drag Illustrated’s Best of 2020, the Shakedown Nationals XIX returns to Virginia on September 15-18. Pro Modified, Radial vs. The World, Pro 275 and more will absolutely jam-pack the pit area with nearly 300 racers who love putting on a show for the fans – whether it be on big tires or small tires. A full vendor midway awaits the wondering eyes of high performance parts or just to see what’s new and exciting along with RV Camping and more. This event has quickly become a staple on the VMP calendar and you do not want to miss out on the nineteenth running of the Shakedown in 2021.

Quarter-mile racing takes center stage when the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series rolls back into town with Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car and more stretching their legs through the full 1320 foot course. The final Regional event of the season for Division 1 always brings in a ton of cars and great racing excitement to enjoy all day long through the September 24-26 weekend.

Street Car Takeover makes its’ debut to Virginia Motorsports Park in 2021 on October 23. The “street car” scene has rapidly evolved and this nationwide series has been the majority of the reason why – from cruise-ins to racing, the action is always moving on and off the track at these events. Virginia Motorsports Park continues the VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series in 2021 with a number of events on schedule for local sportsman racers to become the star of the show and race for an ever-elusive track championship in Super Pro, Pro, Pro Bike and Battery Barn Jr. Dragsters. You will also see exciting classes like Southern Outlaw Top Sportsman, MPC Real Street and more checking in on select events to add extra excitement to the series. VMP also is introducing a number of new monthly programs including “Take It Off The Streets” on a select Thursday night each month for street cars to come get their need for speed in a safe location without any challenges or interruptions in track time like shootouts or classes. A monthly Pro Test Session series will be held on Thursday nights as well with the name of the game being custom tailored track conditions for radial tires and slick tires to get much needed track time to work on their programs before the next big event. Ladies Night along with Test & Tune programs on Friday nights will be held throughout the season to have something for everyone – from beginner to professional and for all ages.

We are excited to bring our racers, guests, media and marketing partners together yet again in 2021 for another great season of competition, entertainment and comradery at Virginia Motorsports Park. During the offseason, the facility is in the middle of a number of upgrades and we are excited for more facets of the facility to be new and improved, making your time at VMP, as fun and as safe as possible. Virginia Motorsports Park is a multi-purpose racing facility located just minutes away from Richmond in North Dinwiddie, Virginia.
