Miller, K. Bunch, Anders, P. Bunch and Harper Take Wins at East Coast Chevy Show

The 2022 edition of the East Coast Chevy Show is in the books after a warm, but gorgeous and sunny Saturday at Virginia Motorsports Park. Hundreds of racers, swap meet spots, car show entries and fans came out to enjoy a great day at the racetrack and the action on-track was just as competitive as ever. Our four Nostalgia Funny Cars made multiple runs over 200 miles per hour and the heads-up, no time Most Wanted shootout had numerous wheelstands and close races throughout the evening!

Larry Miller, multi-time Super Pro track champion, laid claim to the Super Pro title for this year’s annual show in his popular, wheelstanding ’68 Chevelle from Sandston. Miller defeated Brandon Layfield’s S10 in the final round with a .023 package as Layfield ran under his dial-in, breaking out in the finals. Tyler Crossnoe was the lone semi-finalist while Jarrett Lloyd, Stacy Johnson and Andrew “Smokey” Ellis were the quarterfinalists for the evening. For round-by-round results for Super Pro, CLICK HERE. Stacy Johnson also took the win in Southern Outlaw Top Sportsman over Joseph Neagle. Jerry Williams and Keith Houck were the Top Sportsman semi-finalists. The Bunch family took home two wins on Saturday evening with Kris Bunch taking the win in Pro ET. Bunch defeated a red-lighting David Hoffman in the final round with a .003 reaction time of his own. Scott Craddock was the lone semi-finalist along with Dylan Phelps and Chris Barrow were the quarterfinalists in the Pro ET category. For round-by-round results for Pro ET, CLICK HERE. Bryan Anders laid claim to the DOT Street title over Billy Lyle’s ’69 Camaro in an ultra-competitive final round, Anders was .002 RT, 9.902 on the 9.90 dial-in to be .004 total package in the final round. Walter Tuck was the lone semi-finalist, William Shackelford and Dale Farkas were the quarterfinalists. For round-by-round results for DOT Street, CLICK HERE.

Peyton Bunch finished out the Bunch family duo of wins with his in Jr. Dragster over Louis Crockett. Bunch claimed the win in a double breakout affair in the final round with two of the toughest young guns in the class. Chloe Geryes and Mikayla Woodward were the semi-finalists, while Santana McMillian, Kenneth Turner, Jr. and Trinity Raasch ended their evening in the quarterfinals. Tim Harper took the win in the first Most Wanted shootout of the year in his ’84 Monte Carlo from Colonial Heights, VA. Harper defeated Mark Austin in the final round, while Timmy Ramsey and Travis Umbarger were the semi-finalists in the 16-car shootout that brought some exciting heads-up action to the East Coast Chevy Show.

Swinging our attention to the car show, Joyce Kelly took home the Best of Show honors in their phenomenal ’55 Bel Air. Warren Horsley’s ’65 Nova took home Best Engine, Robert Armstrong’s ’87 Suzuki grabbed the Best Engineered award and Chris Overstreet’s ’55 210 left with Best Paint honors. Best Interior was claimed by Tony Hayes’ ’68 Corvette and Keith Bennett’s ’37 Chevy left with the prestigious Judge’s Choice award.
