Virginia Motorsports Park Announces Competitive and Exciting 2023 Schedule

Virginia Motorsports Park is proud to announce a competitive and exciting 2023 schedule, marking the facility’s twenty-ninth year in operation. 2022 was a tough, but grueling fight to the end of the season, capped off with a number of events that left hundreds of thousands of racers and fans enjoying the sports that they love so much. As we look forward to 2023, Virginia Motorsports Park has a number of small changes through the year on some of your favorite races throughout the season, all of which will see minor changes with the class line-ups and event breakdowns, with more details to come on all events through the off season weeks and months.

The winter months of January and February offer autocross, drifting and the return of the Frostbite Car/Truck/Bike Show to start the year off while the dragstrip will kick off on March 4-5 with an opening weekend of Test & Tune. The VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series kicks off on the weekend of March 17-19 as the chase for a track championship begins early on in the season.

Celebrating their 10 year anniversary, the PDRA brings the Mid-Atlantic Showdown to Virginia as the first “do not miss” spectator event of the year on April 20-22 which brings the return of heads-up drag racing along with some of Pro Modified’s most colorful stars and cars. PDRA offers Pro Nitrous, Pro Boost, Extreme Pro Stock, the 10.5″ tire Pro Street class, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and much more, all tied into one exciting weekend of championship doorslammer drag racing. The PDRA also returns in the fall for the Brian Olson Memorial World Finals on October 19-22 to crown season champions and round out their 10 year anniversary season here with us in Virginia.

The Triple Threat Bracket Series brings the nation’s best big money bracket racing action to center stage. Stevie Dustin claimed the first Triple Threat championship in 2021 while perennial powerhouse John Labbous, Jr. took home the $75,000 Mega Bucks victory, claiming the largest single day payout of the season. The series returns on May 4-7, October 12-15 and the pre-entry Mega Bucks event is back on schedule during the summer on July 6-9. Big money bracket racing also continues throughout the year with the new Spring 150 (March 25-26), No Button Nationals III (July 29-30) and Old Dominion Duels (September 1-3).

Fan favorite Shakedown Nationals makes it’s 21st annual stop on a racing calendar in either New Jersey, Ohio or Virginia, after a number of years in the late Spring time slot, we make a change to the date and the event layout, moving it to May 11-13. More details are coming soon about this fan favorite event which will have a different look in 2023, but one that will bring a little more of the historic love for the event back to the forefront and the spotlight.

The XDA series returns in 2023 with two stops on their five race championship tour. The Xtreme Dragbike Association brings motorcycle racing to the forefront with Pro Street, Pro Xtreme, 4.60 Index, Real Street and a number of sportsman categories that usually yields over 600 entries across the weekend! The MTC Engineering Summer Nationals returns on June 2-4 while the FuelTech Bike Bash stays on it’s traditional last week of August on the 25-27.

Quarter-Mile racing takes center stage on September 28-October 1 with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The series best Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car teams will be on hand, blasting through the quarter-mile at 250+ miles per hour in just a tick over 5-seconds! Wheelstanding Super Stockers, Competition Eliminator, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and more will also be on hand, battling it out for ever-important championship points as the season winds down.
