The first major event of the season at Virginia Motorsports Park is scheduled for April 18-20 when the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) rolls into town with the Kaeser Compressors Mid-Atlantic Showdown, presented by: Classic Graphix. Extreme Pro Stock brings 800+ cubic inches of naturally aspirated, gear jamming horsepower to the eighth mile while Pro Street puts thousands of horsepower on a tire that measures 10.5-inches-wide. More exciting classes like Super Street, Pro 632, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and more are also coming to the fan favorite event in late April.

New for the 2024 season, the PDRA schedule is setup with the fan in mind! Friday, the Pros take to the track at 4:00pm for Friday Night Fire to allow for a full workday to occur and students can get out of a full day of school before coming to the racetrack for a wild but exciting evening. But that’s not all, the PDRA atmosphere will be new and better than ever in 2024 with lead-in music for your favorite classes, games and more! We strongly urge you to make sure you do NOT miss Friday nights at PDRA events this season, fans! Even you can win with some of the plans that are coming together!
Saturday’s Main Event will kick off at 11am with a LIVE airing of the new PDRA RaceDay show, aired on FloRacing. Your number one qualifying drivers will receive their awards and you’ll see a marquee matchup in your favorite classes that is one to keep an eye on when eliminations begin. Fans, we urge you to attend the live filming, you may catch a free t-shirt or grab an autograph from your favorite PDRA star! Pro Eliminations begin at 2pm and finals will be on track by 9pm! There is no need to arrive early in 2024 on Friday or Saturday, you can carry on your normal schedule and follow the fan-friendly schedule to see your favorite classes and entertainment but not spend the entire day in the grandstands waiting for the classes you want to see!
Pro Nitrous brings the quickest and fastest nitrous oxide assisted Pro Mods to the forefront of the PDRA. Tommy Franklin comes into 2024 as the reigning world champion, claiming his third in series history. Maryland’s Jim Halsey took home the event win in 2023 over Rickie Smith and will be one to watch as always when the category rolls to the starting line. 900+ cubic inch engines are stuffed between the frame rails of these cars, with most running six stages of nitrous oxide. These cars are often seen running 3.6x second elapsed times at over 200 miles per hour. Pro Nitrous will lead off the Professional class line-up during Friday Night Fire and on Saturday’s Main Event.
Pro Boost provides the thunderous engines that you can feel in your chest from the moment they start to the finish line stripe. These supercharged and turbocharged cars heavily rely on the HEMI engine platform for their horsepower and are often found running deep into the 3.60 range, even dipping into the 3.50s when conditions allow. “Party Time” Jason Harris comes into 2024 wearing the #1 on the window from claiming his third PDRA world championship and first in Pro Boost in 2023. It was an all North Carolina final round last season with the Carolina Kid, Travis Harvey, taking down the aforementioned Harris on a holeshot. Pro Boost sits alongside Pro Nitrous at the front of the PDRA series, continuing to raise the bar in Pro Modified drag racing yet again.
Pro Street brings a ton of attitude and a small tire flare to the PDRA series with all entries sitting on 10.5-inch slick tires. Nitrous oxide, supercharged and turbocharged combinations all piled into one exciting category that is continuing to grow in popularity and in competition level, year after year. Bill Riddle comes into 2024 as your reigning world champion and the previous event winner at Virginia in 2023. The Pro Street cars may be some of the most factory appearing cars in the PDRA, but they are packing a huge punch, often seen running in the 3-second range at nearly 200 miles per hour.
Extreme Pro Stock is another headline category in the PDRA series that brings some of the closest side-by-side racing to the events. 800+ cubic inches of naturally aspirated horsepower is what all of these entries rely on, also, with a clutch pedal and a manually shifted, gear jammin’ transmission to make this class one of the toughest to drive and tune for. The sound of Extreme Pro Stock alone is worth the price of admission, just something about a big cubic inch engine, singing at high RPMs going down the track in 4-seconds flat at over 170 miles per hour. Alan Drinkwater is your reigning world champion and Chris Powers put the Sonny’s Racing Engines Chevrolet in the winner’s circle in Virginia in 2023.
You will also see heads up classes like Pro 632 and Super Street, along with Top Sportsman and Top Dragster that pack the house with huge car counts along with Pro and Top Jr. Dragster and the Bracket Bash category for the local stars to chase a PDRA national event win.
