Virginia Motorsports Park is proud to announce a competitive and exciting 2024 season schedule, marking thirty years of motorsports competition and entertainment. Located in Dinwiddie, Virginia, the facility opened its doors for the first time in 1994 and through the years have played host to numerous national events, world record runs and first time victories. In 2024, the tradition will continue, writing another storied chapter in the book that is Virginia Motorsports Park. The return of the Virginia NHRA Nationals is a top highlight for racers and race fans alike, the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series is back on the calendar on June 21-23, 2024 and will be a bright star on the complete season schedule.
The winter months of January and February offer autocross, drifting and the return of the Frostbite Car/Truck/Bike Show to start the year off while the dragstrip will kick off on March 9-10 with an opening weekend of Test & Tune. The VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series kicks off on the weekend of March 15-17 as the chase for a track championship begins early on in the season, followed by the first chance for a larger money purse on the season with the 2nd Annual L&L Transmission Spring 200.
Coming off their 10 year anniversary season, the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) returns for two stops on the 2023 calendar. First, the Mid-Atlantic Showdown kick starts the season as the first ‘do not miss’ spectator event of the year on April 18-20 which brings the return of heads-up drag racing along with some of Pro Modified’s most colorful stars and cars. PDRA offers Pro Nitrous, Pro Boost, Extreme Pro Stock, the 10.5″ tire Pro Street class, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and much more, all tied into one exciting weekend of championship doorslammer drag racing. The PDRA also returns in the fall for the Brian Olson Memorial World Finals on October 17-20 to crown season champions and round out another competitive championship season.
The Triple Threat Bracket Series returns in 2024, bringing the nation’s best big money bracket racers to center stage on three weekends out of the season. Kevin Pollard comes into the 2024 season as your reigning points champion, making it a door car champion two years in a row, following Stevie “Sidewinder” Dustin’s inaugural title in 2022. The series returns on May 2-5, July 18-21 and October 10-13 with the July date remaining the Mega Bucks event, with the largest single weekend payout of the season. In total, the Triple Threat Bracket Series will be paying out over $500,000 in prize money across the three events, an astonishing number for some of the best local and national talent to battle for across the entire calendar. The big money bracket racing schedule also features the aforementioned Spring 200 (March 23-24), Old Dominion Duels (August 30-September 1), 3rd Annual L&L Transmission Fall 150 (November 9-10) and Turkey Trots: Twin 10s (November 29-30).
The XDA series returns in 2023 with two stops on their five race championship tour. The Xtreme Dragbike Association brings motorcycle racing to the forefront with Pro Street, Pro Xtreme, 4.60 Index, Real Street and a number of sportsman categories that usually yields over 600 entries across the weekend! The MTC Engineering Summer Nationals returns on May 17-19 while the Bike Bash stays on it’s traditional spot on August 23-25, rounding out a competitive summer month of racing.
The Virginia NHRA Nationals is back on the calendar for June 21-23, featuring the newly titled Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Pro Modified and more classes will return to Virginia in the ultra-competitive series that will be chasing points with every pair that goes down the racetrack. Qualifying will begin on Friday while the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge makes its debut at Virginia on Saturday through final qualifying for bonus prize money, points and bragging rights. Final eliminations will kick off on Sunday morning and we will crown NHRA champions by Sunday afternoon. We are excited to have the NHRA national event tour rolling back through Virginia in 2024, ticket and RV camping renewals are underway now and all tickets will be on sale to the public in just a few weeks.
The star of the season calendar returns for a one day thrill show like no other – the Night of Fire returns on Saturday, July 13! The PDRA’s brightest stars battle it out for over $65,000 in prize money in the Summit Racing Equipment ProStars all-star race while exhibition acts keep you on your feet once the show begins. This event has something for everyone with a ton of on-track action, live music and more new things coming to the event in 2024! If there is one date that you do not want to miss out on in 2024, it is the Night of Fire!
The fan-favorite FuelTech Shakedown Nationals XXII returns to its familiar spot on the calendar on September 12-14 and the news is already out about Pro Modified returning featuring a never-before-seen format in drag racing. Well over $100,000 in event purses will be up for grabs across your favorite heads-up and sportsman categories, this will be the spot to be in September if you’re a doorslammer drag racing fan!
Quarter-Mile racing takes center stage on September 26-29 with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The series best Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car teams will be on hand, blasting through the quarter-mile at 250+ miles per hour in just a tick over 5-seconds! Wheelstanding Super Stockers, Competition Eliminator, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and more will also be on hand, battling it out for ever-important championship points as the season winds down.
The Dirtplex will be rocking again in 2024! We’re excited to have two mud bogs back on schedule with the Easter Bash Mud Bog (March 30) and Dirtplex Nationals (August 3) back on schedule for next season. The Sprint Cross Country Series (SXCS) returns to the Virginia Motorsports Park Dirtplex with their second race of the season in March, utilizing parts of the motocross facility and the trail system for a one-of-a-kind event. Rugged Maniac also returns to the Dirtplex for their 5K obstacle course runs.
While you will see a number of dates TBA’d on the calendar, we still have a number of things working behind the scenes to continue to create a one of a kind experience for all ages throughout the year here at Virginia Motorsports Park.
