As the COVID-19 pandemic is expanding and the state and nation is being placed on small number gathering in public, Virginia Motorsports Park has been placed on a restriction from events because of the size of the crowds in a particular place.
After careful consideration of things with Dinwiddie County officials and reading into the national press releases, we have come up with a plan to offer private testing, closed to the public, for up to 10 teams at a time at $250 per car. This includes track prep to the quarter-mile along with a fully staffed ambulance, fire/safety vehicle and staff to handle a private test session. If there is a mix of radial and slick tire entries, we may split the lanes up as far as prep goes. We will make this decision based upon the 10 who sign up. We have agreed upon a parking lot layout to keep the rigs parked on the asphalt lot spread out and keeping groups apart for as much of the time during the test sessions. Also, we caution all racers who sign up for these test sessions to bring a minimum amount of crew members so that we stay within our size limits. Crew members must arrive with the car they are working with as well.
To reserve a slot in these sessions, you will have to call the office at 804-862-3174 and we will be able to get your needs lined out for testing. We will begin this with a session from 5pm to 11pm on Friday evening, March 20th. We will do these as often as possible with good weather in the forecast, private exclusive rentals are still available as well. You will also contact the office for these exclusive rentals and booking those dates as well.
If you reserve your slot and are one of the ten teams attending, upon arrival to the facility, you will have to stop at the office and get your credentials and you will be let into the facility by a VMP staff member, the gate separating the pit area from the main driveway will be locked at all times to keep anyone not involved with the test session outside to keep our numbers down and keep our county, state and federal officials happy during this scary virus. When entering the pit area, you will park where the cones are located in the pits and park in the cone matching your number given to you at the office upon arrival. We have to abide by a few certain rules to keep everything positive so please do your best to work with us to make this continue for the days to follow until we are able to go back racing with events.
