COMP Cams Shakedown Nationals, presented by: FuelTech Class Lineup Finalized, Over $100K on the Line!

After many discussions back and forth and determining factors, we are excited to announce the class lineup for one of the most exciting races of 2019 that is returning once again on September 16-19, 2020. The COMP Cams Shakedown Nationals XVIII, presented by: FuelTech brings a completely different feel to the Virginia Motorsports Park facility with some of the quickest and fastest door cars in the world all converging on one ground to figure out who takes home ever elusive wins and huge prize money.

First off, we are excited to have COMP Cams return as the event title sponsor and proud to make the announcement that FuelTech USA has joined on as the event presenting sponsor. “Partnering together on an event like Shakedown with two companies like COMP Cams and FuelTech is a match made in motorsports heaven,” said Virginia Motorsports Park vice president Tyler Crossnoe. “COMP Cams provides the best internal engine components to handle thousands of horsepower pushed through an engine, while FuelTech USA brings you the engine management tools to control every aspect of that engine to obtain maximum horsepower levels which translates to world record elapsed times and speeds.”

The most popular and talked about shootout of 2019 will return in 2020 as well! The Flying A Motorsports Pro Mod vs. Radial – Judgement Day Shootout will highlight Friday night yet again, under the lights! Pro Modified claimed the 2019 war with a 6 to 2 count but Radial vs. The World let it be known that they did not go away quietly as the last car down the track, Marcus Birt, set the national record at the time to close out the one-of-a-kind shootout with a 3.575, backing up his earlier 3.579 in qualifying.

Menscer Motorsports has stepped up to put together an awesome get together and racer dinner on Thursday night after the opening round of qualifying for everybody to kick back, relax, enjoy some good food and have some fun as the racing family that we all are.

The incredible team at Virginia Motorsports Park will also be joined by a few skilled professionals from across the globe to make this event go off without a hitch, including Jimmy Bradshaw from Sticky Mafia Track Services helping provide the go-fast racing surface that these hot rods will need to go set national records, yet again in 2020.

Virginia Motorsports Park is a multi-purpose racing facility located just minutes away from Richmond in North Dinwiddie, Virginia. The dragstrip hosts a variety of events, including the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Virginia Nationals, two PDRA national events, an NHRA Lucas Oil Series divisional race and a local bracket racing points series. The dirt park will host truck and tractor pulls, monster truck throwdowns, mud bog events and motocross races. Special events held at VMP include the Dinwiddie Music Fest, the Dinwiddie County Fair and mud run and obstacle course races.
