The wait is finally over for the details on the 2021 VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series to be held at Virginia Motorsports Park throughout the 2021 calendar year.
As we finished the 2020 season, our goal was to work hard in the offseason and try to build a program for everyone who races the series already and others who are on the fence and looking for the right place to race for points during the 2021 season. Our game plan was simple – you, the racer, supported us through a global pandemic, followed all of the guidelines as best as we all could and helped us through a year in which the only normal that most of us had was at the race track. By doing so, our 2021 slogan as we went to work was “giving back,” to the ones who supported anything and everything we put together during 2020.
Looking at the flyer below, you will see two payouts for Hoosier Racing Tire Super Pro and Pro ET/Footbrake. All of our payouts are 100% guaranteed in all four classes – but for Super Pro and Footbrake, we added a “you support us, we support you” program for 2021. The goal is simple, when you reach 80 cars making the call in the first round of eliminations, your payout will raise to the second tier! It is our goal and our service to our VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series racers to perform efficient events along with giving you a payout that makes it worth the time, effort and travel costs to attend our 12-race series. Pro Bike & Battery Barn Jr. Dragsters continue their program from the 2020 season. Two other changes for the series involving payout and entry fees are as follows – in Super Pro & Footbrake, if you come in to run Saturday & Sunday during the scheduled two-day events, you can buy a weekend entry and save $10 by racing both days, chasing the ever important yearly points standings. You will also notice that the payout is now the same for both Saturday & Sunday, unlike in 2020 where Sunday’s purse was a lower entry and lower overall payout – it is our job to give you the best product that we can and offering the same program each day is what we feel like is best moving into the 2021 season.
Another change for the 2021 season is the run order to where the Battery Barn Jr. Dragsters will lead us off each race at 9am sharp on Saturdays and 10:15am on Sundays. Another change for the junior dragster category will be that technical inspections will be done in the staging lanes when you come up for your first time trial, not in the original tech location by the VP Racing Fuels fuel station. This will speed up the technical inspections process for both big cars and the juniors, also keeping the juniors as safe as possible with cars driving around that area in the early morning hours. By making these small changes, this will get the morning’s activities started on time which is always needed to make sure the program completes on time and before our 11:00pm curfew. Our goal is to continue offering two time trials on Saturday and one time trial on Sunday to begin the season, if this becomes a problem with completing events before curfew, we will look into adjustments but with moving the run order around and streamlining the technical inspections process for the Jr. Dragsters, we feel this will start our mornings on time and be more efficient through the event itself, still allowing for the same time trial schedule as 2020.
Another new program for the 2021 season is the addition of Virginia Motorsports Park’s participation in the 2021 ThisIsBracketRacing.com Driver Series! The series is designed to reward racers for local accomplishments by competing on a national scale without the need to leave their home track! The ThisIsBracketRacing Driver Series will crown national champions in both the Box and No Box categories with the 2021 national champions each receiving $10,000 courtesy of ThisIsBracketRacing.com!
Eight of VMP’s regularly scheduled VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series events will be selected at which drivers can earn points towards Driver Series championships (dates will be highlighted below), racers will earn points at their best six finishes among those eight events.
The series consists of two classes: top and bottom bulb. The entry fee is $50 per class (each class is a separate entry fee for racers who choose to participate in both). The entry fee is a one-time payment to ThisIsBracketRacing and is separate from your entry fee at the track. In addition to the championship purse, if the championship driver is a current ThisIsBracketRacing ELITE member, that driver will earn an additional $2,500 bonus from TIBR!
Our talented racers will be competing against racers from Ardmore Dragway (OK), Beech Bend Raceway Park (KY), Big Country Raceway (TX), Bremerton Raceway (WA), Cedar Falls Motorsports Park (IA), Immokalee Regional Raceway (FL), Lebanon Valley Dragway (NY), Luskville Dragway (QC), Mid-Michigan Motorplex (MI), Mo-Kan Dragway (MO), Muncie Dragway (IN), National Trail Raceway (OH), Numidia Dragway (PA), South Georgia Motorsports Park (GA), Summit Raceway Park (OH), Virginia Motorsports Park (VA) and World Wide Technology Raceway (IL).
