After reviewing a number of weather forecasts over the past few days, the team at Virginia Motorsports Park has made the decision to swap to a Twin 10s format for this weekend’s season-finale eBayMotors Turkey Trots event and have Sunday as a wrap-up day to ensure completion of all scheduled events by the end of the weekend.
Each day has a window to get in solid racing, but we are possibly faced with delayed starts and earlier than normal end times due to the forecasted temperatures and a slight chance of a rain shower on Friday morning. By reducing the format to two races instead of three, we are creating a schedule that is obtainable, even if we have to use multiple days to complete each event. We at Virginia Motorsports Park want to end the season on a high note and see two big winners end the year on a high note, each taking home a big $10,000 win this weekend.
Changes to the program from its original state are as follows along with notes for the weekend:
- Weekend Entry drops to $280 for both races.
- Friday’s event schedule will start with one time trial per car (double entries only receive one time trial) and then straight into eliminations.
- Saturday’s event schedule will have a new entry time trial for the second event of the weekend, then directly into eliminations as well. If we have to finish Friday’s event on Saturday morning, we will do so first and mix in new entry time trials as the first race is completing. Second race will start at the conclusion of race one.
- Sunday’s schedule is to be a clean-up day, as needed and a travel day for racers to get home following the holiday weekend and be ready for work on Monday morning (yes, we know, and we don’t want to go back to work either!)
- As stated above, double entries will only receive ONE time trial. This was an issue at a past event and created issues for completing the event in a timely manner, this will be changed for the Turkey Trots in the essence of time and completing the overall event as quick as we can.
- We have changed the format to a buyback instead of a re-entry round, if we have issues and get into a time sensitive moment, this will put us moving forward in the event the entire time instead of pausing for a re-entry round before moving on to round two.
- Door Cars will be separated from dragsters for the first three rounds of eliminations.
- Double entries will be called up first, time is of the essence this week and if you choose to double enter, it is on you to make it back in time for both entries in each round.
- Racer parking will begin on Thursday, November 25 (Thanksgiving Day) at 4:00pm, be sure to thank our staff who is giving up time with their families on the holidays to come in to serve and provide a convenience for all racers. The racer entry gate will remain open 24-hours until the event completes so there will be NO waiting in long lines and you will enter the facility as you arrive, making your time at the facility as easy and welcoming as possible.
- Gold Club Parking is in effect this weekend, if you have not purchased a spot with a gold/yellow box painted on it, please do not park there as it is someone’s purchased parking spot for the season.
