Virginia Motorsports Park Brings Fun, Excitement and Competition to the 2022 Schedule

Virginia Motorsports Park officials are proud to announce the competition schedule to be contested throughout the entire calendar year of 2022. A jam-packed schedule with action, entertainment and excitement awaits the many racers and thousands of fans who eagerly flow through the gates each year. In addition to the familiar favorites on the calendar, we also have a handful of new events to add new demographics to the facility. The season begins in January with the second annual Frostbite Car/Truck/Bike Show on January 22, followed by a number of drift and autocross events scattered in through the winter months along with two Job Fairs for hiring new prospects into the working family who puts on these great events for you all to enjoy.

The drag racing schedule kicks off with season opening Test & Tune sessions along with the return of the VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series, starting its season on March 19-20. The first major event of the year will see the return of the Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings series on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23. The second major event is less than a month away, the return of the nitro-burning Top Fuel and Funny Car categories of the NHRA with the Virginia NHRA Nationals on May 13-15, 2022. Tickets will be available soon for this event along with new VIP experiences and more! The return of the NHRA will be one that you do not want to miss after two seasons of missing the national event. The East Coast Chevy Show and Triple Threat Bracket Series return in June then the PDRA comes back for its first of two stops in July. The Night of Fire takes over on Saturday, July 30 and will be one event that you want to mark on your calendars as the details continue to come together to build a one-of-a-kind event that you’ve never seen before! Street Car Takeover returns for its second year in August along with the second XDA event of the year with all the entertainment and pageantry known with the Bike Bash. The Shakedown Nationals celebrates 20 years of motorsports history on September 15-17 while the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series makes its annual stop on September 29-October 2 with Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car classes headlining a powerful, quarter-mile line-up. The PDRA World Finals caps off the special event calendar on October 13-16 with the quickest and fastest doorslammers in the world fighting it out for world championships and event wins to close out the Pro Modified season. Big money bracket racing will take center stage across a number of the months of the year with the three Triple Threat Bracket Series events, No Button Nationals, Old Dominion Duels, Fall ET Challenge and Turkey Trot events.

The dirtplex schedule kicks off with the annual Easter Bash Mud Bog on Saturday, April 16 and is quickly followed by the first of two Rugged Maniac Obstacle Course races on Saturday, April 30. The Fourth of July tradition continues with Monster Truck Throwdown on July 1-3 while the Dirtplex Nationals returns on Saturday, August 13 for more mud bog action and some added touches. Rugged Maniac returns for their final obstacle course race of the year on Saturday, October 8. We are working to add more dates to the calendar for the Dirtplex over the coming weeks and months as we look forward to continuing to grow and improve the facility and our event line-up in the dirt side of the facility, along with the drag strip.

“We are coming off a very tough but important season for the facility,” stated Tyler Crossnoe, vice president of Virginia Motorsports Park. “With everything going on in the world at the beginning of the season, everyone had their doubts as to what was going to happen by the end of the year but our sport as a whole continued to bond together and push forward, giving everyone a sense of relief and enjoyment while at the racetrack together. We’re proud to host so many events here at Virginia and we look forward to the return of the NHRA along with all of our events coming back or new for the 2022 season.”

All event details will be coming soon to each individual event page on the RaceVMP.com website but mark your calendars for your favorite events now and stay tuned for more exciting details to come about each and every event!
