VP Fuels ET Bracket Series Opens 2022 Season with Huge Crowds

The VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series opened its season at Virginia Motorsports Park with a double-header weekend on March 19-20, 2022. Over 280 entries filled the Dinwiddie, VA based facility for both days and the long off-season has not affected our racers as they were laser sharp all weekend long. Many racers laying down tough packages all day long, some of which, landed in the winner’s circle at the end of a hard-fought day on the dragstrip.


Saturday’s edition saw Suffolk, VA’s own Stanley Wiggins park his ’87 Mustang in the winner’s circle at the end of the evening, defeating Jeff Verdi in an all-door car final round to start the year in Hoosier Tire Super Pro. Wiggins was on it all day, including the final round beside the two-time Million Dollar Race winner in Verdi. Jonathan Martin and Richard Payne were the semi-finalists while Darrell Holmes, Johnny Swink, Ryan Everhart and John Mayhew were the quarter-finalists. Roger Bridges took his Virginia based Nova all the way in Pro ET, defeating the Delaware based ’83 Blazer driven by Glen Isom. Bridges took the win in an extremely close final round, playing catch-up after Isom had the reaction time advantage. Wade Giles was the lone semi-finalist of the category while Rocky Pintavalle, Scott Halsey and Jerry Tarr ended their day as quarterfinalists. Ben Burkhead took the win in Pro Bike on Saturday over a red-lighting Delton Dove in the final round, Derek Burkhead, Sr. was the lone semi-finalist. Brynleigh Allen took her first win in Battery Barn Jr. Dragsters on Saturday, by way of a .036 package in the final round to defeat CJ Jenkins. Davis Montgomery and Hailey Dalton were the semi-finalists while Jordan Denny, Rowan Parlett and Brooke Harper were the quarterfinalists for Saturday’s program in juniors. Sunday’s edition saw Eric Whitehurst from Edenton, NC score one for the dragsters as he defeated Jeff Verdi in his second consecutive final round in the patented ’68 Firebird. Whitehurst dropped 13 total as Verdi was mathematically ineligible leaving the starting line. Allison Lloyd and Otis Adam were the semi-finalists for day two of Super Pro action. Dave Dissinger brought his Pennsylvania-based ’75 Monza to the winner’s circle on Sunday, defeating 2021 series runner-up Cody Kirk in the final round. Dissinger took a reaction time advantage and never looked back, taking the win on Sunday to close out the weekend. Ben Burkhead took his second win of the weekend in Pro Bike, this time, defeating Buddy Marable in the final round. Derek Burkhead, Sr. recorded his second semi-final finish on the weekend as well. Brayden Gallant took his first win in Battery Barn Jr. Dragsters on Sunday, by way of a red-lighting Chris Showns in the final round. Jordan Denny and Dalton Wilkinson were the semi-finalists while Brooke Harper, Ayden Christian and Noah Harris were the quarterfinalists for Sunday’s edition of Jr. Dragsters.
